Homemade Turmeric Bombs

Today we are making something that sounds just as explosive as its name indicates: turmeric bombs! They are useful for when you want the benefits of turmeric but without the bitter taste. In addition to this, they also have some special ingredients that work alongside the anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric. Without further ado, here is the recipe as well as the ingredients that you need:

  • ⅓ cup organic ground turmeric
  • Big pinch of finely ground black pepper
  • 1 Tbs. quercetin powder
  • Binding agent, choose 3 tbsp of one ingredient

Organic ground turmeric. It is very important to choose organic powder for this recipe, as it will be your base.

Ground black pepper. This helps with the absorption of nutrients and it is also a health promoting spice in itself.

Quercetin powder. Much like black pepper, quercetin powder also helps with the absorption of turmeric.

For a binding agent choose one of the following:

Raw honey. Just make sure that the honey has no added additives or artificial sugars. If you want to use these turmeric bombs for anti-inflammatory purposes, avoid adding honey altogether.

Coconut oil. This is an amazing choice for any purpose. Just use virgin coconut oil and you are good to go.

Ghee. Unlike butter, ghee is a healthier choice and is an integral part in the Indian diet regime.

The recipe takes barely no time to make. Unlike turmeric paste, which is a bit more time-consuming, turmeric bombs are easy to make. The version with honey is better for children, because it takes away from the bitterness of turmeric. Coconut oil is sugar-free and also provides the fatty acids that help with the absorption of curcumin.

All you have to do is add the ground turmeric, pepper, quercetin powder and binding agent into a bowl. When you use honey, you get a thick and pliable mixture. When you use oil, you get a slightly more malleable mixture. Make little balls out of the mixture. Transfer the turmeric bombs onto a baking sheet and then free them for a couple of hours.

Remember that you should not overdose on them or you will upset your stomach. About 4-5 grams of turmeric a day is the recommended amount.
