Tanning and playing in the sun are everyone’s favorite summer activity. However, after your vacation, you may find yourself with a bad sun burn. There are ways of protecting yourself against it, but what to do once you have it? Sun burn does not only hurt, but it can also provide an unaesthetic aspect of your skin. Wearing your favorite dress won’t be possible anymore until you heal.

Whenever you get out in the sun, make sure to apply sun lotion every few hours. This prevents sun burns and protects you against skin cancer. In the meantime, here are some remedies against sun burn that you can try:

Take a cold shower. It is a great method of relieving and numbing your pain and it also cools you off. During those hot summer days, warm water is not that pleasant anyway. After a day spent out in the sun, a cold shower is exactly what you need.

Use a milk compress. All you need is a soft, clean cotton cloth and some milk. Soak it properly then place it in the fridge until it cools. This will ease the heat of your skin and provide a layer of protection, soothing the discomfort.

Use products again sun burn. Sometimes the best remedies come from the pharmacy. If your sun burn is more severe, then buy some lotions with aloe vera. They have a cooling effect and will help your skin regenerate and heal faster. You can also try taking some aspirin or ibuprofen to help with the pain.

Stay hydrated. By exposing yourself to the sun, your body probably got dehydrated. For this reason, try to drink more water and prevent your skin from drying out. This will speed up the healing process.

Vinegar. Apple cider vinegar seems to be the most efficient when it comes to sun burn. Therefore, apply some on a washcloth and gently rub your skin with it.

Healing sun burns is not difficult, but staying away from them is preferable. No matter if you’re out on the beach or just going for a walk, always apply sun screen. Do not forget to stay hydrated and to wear a cap if you’re more sensitive towards sun rays.
