Spiritual Disciplines

Discipline is a control we gain when we realize that rules and orders were created to be obeyed. Following rules and orders is a great way to train yourself to become a better person, to get deeper in your spiritual practice and to get closer to the spiritual world.

There are different categories of Spiritual Disciplines. The main two categories are: abstinence and engagement.

Spiritual Disciplines of abstinence

This set of disciplines will teach you how to gain control by denying yourself things that you desire. You can choose solitude, to move far away from other people. Silence can be another choice. You deny yourself the desire to talk to others. Not speaking can teach you to listen to others with attention. The next one of your Spiritual Disciplines choices can be fasting. You can choose to stop eating for a few days or to go vegan for a while. It helps you to detox your body and to learn how to control your cravings. You can also choose secrecy. You will keep your qualities and deeds secret, so others will receive the attention. Submission is another great method to control your behaviors. It will teach you how to live in the submission of authority, of wisdom of the divine and the power of God.

Spiritual Disciplines of engagement

This set of disciplines are all about spiritual connections. They can connect you to God, the celestial beings and even other people. You can choose to read The Bible or other spiritual texts. This act will get you closer with the words of the divine. The texts are full of wisdom, guidance and motivation. Worshiping The Divine is another one of the Spiritual Disciplines. You can choose to praise him in words, chants, different rituals or even in silence by meditating. You can also chose to pray. It is a conversation between you and God or one of his messengers.

You can talk about anything that weights your heart. Praying also allow you to express your thankfulness for everything God gave you. Inner reflection is the discipline of focusing on yourself. You have to pay attention to your feelings, emotions and behaviors. This will help you to observe the qualities of yours that you have to maintain. It also allows you to discover your bad behaviors and make a change in good. When you love yourself, it is easier to love the divine. You can also choose spiritual services. They will help you to get closer to others by helping them. Any service you do for someone in need, acted with love, will get you closer to God.

If you start to awaken and you want to do something for your soul, choose one or more of these Spiritual Disciplines. Learn how to control your physical cravings and connections. Start to develop and discover the world within you.
