Precautions: There are no serious side-effects when it comes to using slippery elm for GERD. However, do not follow this treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Drink a lot of water when you take slippery elm. The mucilage swells on contact with moisture. This means that it can stick to your throat. It can also interfere with other types of medication. Therefore, try not to take it at the same time as other supplements.

All in all, you can take slippery elm for GERD under medical supervision. It poses no side effects and it can help relieve your symptoms considerably.
