Procrastination Depression

Two of the major problems that lots of people struggle with are depression and procrastination. Also, it should not be surprising that the two are related on a certain level. Today we will look more closely at procrastination depression and its symptoms.

Depression is a mental disorder that is more than just being sad. A feeling of unhappiness lasts for short periods of time, whereas depression is more persistent. You don’t only feel sad, you also feel like you will never get better. Because of this feeling of hopelessness, your procrastination usually starts. This is probably one of the most worrying effects of depression, because it can impair your daily life. Procrastination depression is a symptom of a lack of motivation.

We all experience moments of procrastination from time to time. However, depressed people have it much worse than others. They realize they are procrastinating, but they cannot do anything to get out of that state. Therefore, their depression and feelings of helplessness intensify. It is a constant vicious circle that is hard to escape from.

Procrastination is also a form of avoidance, not only of coping. We all have different methods of coping with difficult situations. However, the reason we procrastinate varies. It’s either due to lack of time management, complexity of tasks, lack of interest, etc. Depressed people simply lose interest in lots of things during their episodes. Doing certain activities no longer brings them pleasure, therefore they do not feel the need to engage in them. It is quite difficult to find something that they like to do.

All in all, procrastination depression is a serious issue. Take into consideration the effects of procrastination on both your health and your daily life. You might end up ignoring really important things that you should do. If you do not take action you will continue to feel bad for putting things off. Whenever you are down in a slump, try to find the motivation to get up and do what you need to do.
