Pork Goulash Recipe

This recipe for pork goulash is of Hungarian origin and it is made with pork chops and bacon, seasoned with paprika and served over egg noodles. Here are the ingredients as well as how you can make this dish yourself.

Pork Goulash

  • 2 large onions, diced
  • 5 slices of bacon
  • 1 tsp of garlic powder
  • ¼ cup of Hungarian paprika
  • ¼ tsp of black pepper
  • 5 pounds of boneless pork chops
  • 1 yellow bell pepper
  • 2 cups of sour cream
  • 2 cans of diced tomatoes
  • 2/3 cup of beef broth
  • 2 packages of wide egg noodles

Pork Goulash Recipe

First of all, place the bacon in a large skillet, then cook everything over medium-high heat until it’s evenly browned. Drain the excess drippings, then add onions over the bacon and cook everything together until the onions become translucent. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the paprika, garlic powder and pepper along the bacon mixture. Put everything into a large stockpot and let it sit for now.

In the skillet, place the pork chops and cook them in batches until they become brown on all sides. Use the bacon drippings form each batch to cook the pork chops. Remove the excess fat from the surface of the chops with a paper towel. Cut the meat into cubes and add it to the bacon.

Secondly, stir the bell peppers and cook them until they become tender. Pour in the tomatoes and the beef broth and place the pot over medium-high heat. Cook until the stew begins to thicken, stirring occasionally, for about 90 minutes. Stir in the sour cream just before serving.

Lastly, in a pot of salted water, bring the egg noodles to a boil. After they are done, drain them and then ladle the stew over the noodles.
