The Sattvic foods are raw fruits (fresh apples, mangoes, pomegranates), vegetables (sweet potatoes, lettuce, sprouts), dairy (milk, yoghurt) and whole grains (wheat, brown rice, oats).

The Rajasic or the seconds pillar contains the neutral foods. The foods that stimulate forcefulness and our will-power. These foods can give us the energy we need in a overwhelming period. The herbs and spices will promote our energy and stimulation. The Rajasic foods are: coffee, tea, sweets (chocolate), meat (fish, chicken, shrimp), spices (curry, pickles).

The Tamasic or third pillar contains the foods that we need to limit in our diet. These foods promote the functioning out of need or instinct. These foods can brings us back to the world when we feel too dreamy. They link us to the material world. When we deepen in our spiritual practices. And we forget that we still have a material body to take care of. The Tamasic contains dark meats, alcohol and other foods that can block our chakras. These foods can limit our ability to get to enlightenment. The Tamaric foods are: dark meat (pork, beef, lamb, etc), vegetables (onion, garlic), drinks (beer, wine, alcohol), cheese and other processed diary foods.

And limit the third pillar, those foods link you to the material world and harden your spiritual work. You can choose to consume exclusively foods from the first pillar, if you feel really devoted.
