Molten Chocolate Lava Cake

If you want a special and delicious dessert for Valentine’s Day, then try this molten chocolate lava cake. Top it with a sprinkle of powdered sugar and this intensely chocolate flavored dessert will catch anyone’s eye. Here are the ingredients you need:

Molten Chocolate Lava Cake

  • 8 ounces of dark chocolate, chopped coarsely
  • 2 tbsp of butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 1 tbsp of all-purpose flour
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp of vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • powdered sugar

Molten Chocolate Lava Cake

First of all, you will need around 10 ramekins, souffle dishes or custard cups. Taking two tablespoons of butter, grease them up properly. Place your cups onto a baking pan and then set them aside for the moment.

Secondly, you need a small saucepan. Into it, combine the chocolate with ¾ of the cup of butter. Keep them over low heat and cook them until they melt and blend together. Remove your pan from the heat and set it aside to cool off.

Now, in a large mixing bowl, beat your sugar, vanilla extract, eggs and egg yolks with an electric mixer. Continue mixing for 10 minutes then fold one third of the melted chocolate into it. Take the remaining chocolate mixture flour then fold fold it into the rest of the egg mix. Spoon out the batter into each of the ramekins at about 2/3.

Lastly, bake in the oven at 425 degrees F for 15 minutes. Take out each ramekin and cool them off. Afterwards, take a knife and loosen each cake then invert it onto a dessert plate. You can sift some powdered sugar on top or garnish it with raspberries or mint leaves. This cake goes well with whipped cream on the side, if you want an extra dose of sweetness.
