Gastroparesis appears as a problem after surgical procedures, after certain medication usage or in association with other illnesses. This is a condition that slows down or stops the passing of food from the stomach to the intestine. As a result, it can cause bloating and abdominal pain.

Eat more frequently. Patients discovered that it helps to eat smaller portions. Your stomach can digest food better if it’s in smaller amounts. Therefore, eat around 6 small meals a day. Try foods that are low in fat and fiber.

Do not lie down. Walking or sitting for two hours after a meal helps more than lying down. It assists better with the passing of food.

Avoid fatty foods. Fat slows down your digestion. Also, try to grind down any type of red meat, pork or fowl.

Avoid raw vegetables and fruits. Your stomach will take longer to digest them and the leftovers will remain in your stomach. Broccoli and oranges contain lots of fiber that does not digest well. You can eat avocado, squash, zucchini or pumpkin.

Avoid alcohol and tobacco. They can slow down the gastric emptying.
