Hyperbaric Chamber Wound Healing

Hyperbaric Chamber Wound Healing – The serious injuries with open wounds are very hard to treat. They heal hardly. And their recovery lasts a very long time. But some researchers has shown that oxygen is very helpful in healing open wounds. Therefore, they developed the Hyperbaric Chamber Wound Healing method. They created some chambers that contain 100% oxygen. In this environment, the wound starts to heal much quicker than normally.

The health issues that can be healed in hyperbaric oxygen chambers are open wounds such as: soft tissue infection, burns, crush injuries, delayed radiation injuries and even diabetes-related wounds.

But this procedure can also have some serious side effects, due to the immense pressure. Some of these side effects are: year and nose trauma due to the pressure, decompression sickness, convulsions related to oxygen toxicity (which is not life-threatening) and even nearsightedness.

What to expect from a Hyperbaric Chamber Wound Healing session?

Firstly, you will have to your clothes. Because you are only allowed to wear 100% cotton medical gown. Now you have two options. If the clinic that you have chosen has a big chamber, then you will be treated alongside many other people. Because there are chambers capable of treating more than 10 people. But there is the second option. Which is more comfortable.

Most of the hospitals have a so called mono-place. Which treat only one person at a time. So if you will be treated in a mono-place, which is more common, then you will have to lie down on a table. It will slide you into the mono-place. Which looks like a 7 feet long tube. Inside, you will have to relax and to breath normally. Most of the hospitals even let you to watch TV or listen to music. But you can even talk to your therapist. Because he/she will be in the room with you the whole time. Once the chamber is sealed, the pressure starts to rise up to 2,5 times the normal pressure. Which will provoke some discomfort and even ear popping. When the treatment is ready, then the therapist will slowly depressurize the chamber before opening it.

A Hyperbaric Chamber Wound Healing session lasts between 30 minutes and 2 hours. It depends on the severity of the wound. The treatment will be repeated as many times the therapist considers. Because it depends on how does the wound respond to it. If the healing starts, then there will be no need of long sessions.
