Before turning to creams and medicine, try these home remedies for burns:

Mint toothpaste. If you have suffered from a minor burn, mint toothpaste might come in handy. Run the burnt area under cold water and after you’ve dried it apply a layer of toothpaste on it.

Vanilla extract. By gently applying with a cotton swab some vanilla extract you will cool the burn and alleviate the pain.

Tea bags. With high levels of tannic acid, black tea draws the heat from a burn and soothes the pay. Place two or three cool, wet tea bags and hold them in place with a gauze.

Vinegar. The acetic acid that is found in aspirin as well will relieve any pain, itch or inflammation after a burn. And with antiseptic and astringent properties, it will help keep the infection away from the burnt area.

Honey. A natural antibiotic, it restores the skin’s natural pH balance and burnskill any existing bacteria and drive away the infection.

Dairy products. The fat and protein that milk or yogurt contain soothes any burns and helps your skin to heal quicker, while hydrating and cooling it.

Oats. With anti-inflammatory properties, you can apply oats that were previously soaked in water onto the problem area. For larger burns, you can add them in your bath water and soak in it for 20 minutes or so.

Coconut oil. An excellent source of healing vitamin E, it also has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties that will ensure that your skin will not get infected. For nasty scars, you can combine it with some lemon juice and it will help speed up the healing process.

Vitamins C and E. With antioxidant properties, they protect your skin and aid in the repairing process. They also stimulate the production of collagen to promote skin regeneration. You can either take these vitamins from food or apply directly onto your skin capsules containing these vitamins.

These home remedies for burns will provide a quick relief and help your skin heal naturally. They will also prevent any scarring that might occur and ensure that your skin will be restored to its initial state.
