Flaxseed Protein Shake

Drinking a delicious and healthy protein shake is an excellent start to any day. It provides you with sustainable energy and keeps the hunger pangs away. In addition to this, it also gives your bones, muscles and cells the proteins they need to keep healthy. If you also mind your health and want to take care of yourself, here is a recipe for a tasty flaxseed protein shake:

Here are the ingredients you need:

  • Whey protein powder
  • Strawberries, bananas or some other fruit of your choice
  • 3 tbsp of freshly ground Salba seeds
  • Almond milk

Step 1 – Add the milk and fruit. Pour 1 or 1 and ½ cups of almond milk into the blender. You can also use other types of milk too, such as soy. Add in the bananas, strawberries or whatever fruit you decided on. You can either use fresh or frozen fruit, because they both work well. If you want a cold drink, opt for frozen fruits, or add in some ice.

Step 2 – Grind the Salba seeds. After you blend the fruits, add in 3 tbsp of flax seeds into the mix. You need to grind them first, so their proteins incorporate better with the shake. Using the coffee grinder is a good enough solution.

Step 3 – Add whey protein. Now you can also incorporate the whey protein into the mix. A scoop of it has around 25 grams. This is enough to give you a nice energy boost. The protein also helps balance your blood sugar levels.

Step 4 – Blend everything. Once you added everything into the blender, mix everything until all the fruit becomes liquefied. Set your blender to medium, then gradually increase it to high for a minute or two. Now you can pour your flaxseed protein shake into a glass and drink it. If you don’t want to drink it immediately, better add some vitamin C in. This will prevent it from oxidizing and changing color.

This is how you make a delicious flaxseed protein shake. If you would prefer it a bit thicker, you can incorporate natural yogurt too. Or you can use a tablespoon of peanut butter.
