Effortless Presence Meditation is a type of mindfulness meditation. It is also called Choiceless Awareness or Pure Being. The base of this meditation is to find inner peace. It involves practice which doesn’t require your attention to be focused on anything. So, basically, you have to find stillness, emptiness and quietness inside of you. In Effortless Presence Meditation you have to stop thinking, producing thoughts.
This meditation clears your mind and puts you in a state of pure presence. Due to the fact that this meditation doesn’t need a focus point, it is very hard to practice. It is easier to focus on an object or thought then clearing your mind of every small thought.
Effortless Presence Meditation – Step by step
To start this meditation, you need a space where you will not be disturbed. It must be quiet place. In this meditation you don’t need music, candles or incest. They will only distract your attention and harden the process of clearing your mind. When the space is ready, then it is time for you to get ready. Find a comfortable position. The main importance is on your spine. It must be straight and erect.
The next step is to relax. You have to relax your body. You also have to stop controlling it. Stop controlling your breath. The only thing you have to do is to allow everything to be as it is. Do not control anything and do not judge anything. You also do not force anything.
Don’t force your breath, because your body already knows how to breath. Also do not force thoughts or try to control your thoughts. Don’t even think about the fact that you are meditating. Just enjoy the present moment. If thoughts are coming, observe them and let them flow away. Enjoy the state of effortless rest.
When you are in this step of the Effortless Presence Meditation, the only thing you have to do is to be. You simply are. Without being this or that. Enjoy the purity of the present moment. In this state you are spiritually aware. You are a perfectly aware spiritual being. In this state you can see the real pure you.

The Effortless Presence Meditation is not easy at all to practice. It shouldn’t be the first meditation you try. I recommend you to try it only when you already have some experience in focused attention meditation practices.
