Is there such thing as too much sleep? The obvious answer is yes. There is always too much or too little. There is always enough, always. You might not have taken into consideration that too much sleep can have a negative impact on your health. But it does. The effects can be short term or long term. Sleep is essential for all your organs proper functioning. Give it too much or too little and you will suffer some consequences.

Here are some bad things that derive from too much sleep:

You’re at higher risk of heart disease. Heart diseases have become one of the most common health problems. Studies have shown that sleeping more than 8 hours a night can increase your risk of suffering from heart diseases.

You’re more likely to struggle with your weight. While not enough sleep triggers weight loss, too much sleep can do that also. Sleeping too much will consequently determine less exercise. So you will have shorter periods available in which you could be more active instead.

You may develop diabetes. Btoo-much-sleepeing overweight and sedentary will increase your chances of diabetes. Too much sleep can also raise your blood sugar levels and result in higher blood glucose.

Your brain gets fuzzier. Long sleeping can affect your concentration and memory. You probably remember that nap you took in the afternoon. You probably woke up feeling drowsy.

Your mood can suffer. Oftentimes, people that suffer from depression get too much sleep. Or too little. This will only contribute to deepening of your depression or anxiety.

You’re at risk of dying early. Because it is correlated with heart diseases and diabetes, you are more likely of dying early. An active life can improve not only your mood, but your overall health as well.

These are just some of the bad things that derive from too much sleep. Having a morning and evening routine can go a long way in maintaining your wellness. A balanced diet with regular exercise can help you keep away diseases and prolong your health.

Evaluate your lifestyle and your choices and make the necessary adjustments. Sleep 7 or 8 hours a night and the rest of your time spend it actively. You will see improvements in all aspects of your life and you will consequently make healthier choices for your body and mind.
