2 Wheatgrass Smoothie Recipes
Wheatgrass has a taste that is similar to that of spinach or other leafy greens. For this very reason, its popularity as a smoothie ingredient has risen recently. It’s gluten free and has no calories for you to worry about. If you want to give wheatgrass a try, you should start small, by mixing it with other ingredients. Therefore, here are some recipes for a mean wheatgrass smoothie:
- 2 bananas
- 2 cups of pineapple
- 1 packet of wheatgrass
- 1 cup of baby spinach
- 8 ounces of coconut water
Start by adding the coconut water to your blender, followed by the softer fruit. Turn on the blender and mash these ingredients together. Now toss in the greens and turn on the blender again. Blend them on high for 30 seconds until you get a smooth mixture.
Tip: We recommend using either fresh wheatgrass juice or a powdered supplement that you can mix in. If you use the juice version, do not add in too much. Start with ½ shot and then work your way up to two. Do not use too much if you are not used to the taste, because you will ruin your smoothie.

Wheatgrass has a growing cycle of a week or two. Thus, you can find it all year around in supermarkets or stores. You can even grow it yourself. If you purchase it, stay away from the wheatgrass that has turned yellow. You can store it in a container or in the refrigerator for about a week. However, the best thing to do is to harvest fresh one from the garden and use it immediately.
